Fragile Item Packing Guide
Pack fragile items correctly so they survive shipping. Step-by-step guide with real techniques used by professionals.
The 5-Layer Fragile Method
- Layer 1 — Box Selection: Use a double-walled box at least 2 inches larger than item on all sides. Never reuse crushed boxes.
- Layer 2 — Bottom Cushion: 2-3 inches of packing peanuts or crumpled paper on the bottom.
- Layer 3 — Wrap the Item: Wrap item in 3-4 layers of bubble wrap (large bubble for heavy, small bubble for glass). Secure with tape.
- Layer 4 — Surround: Fill all void space around the item. Shake the box — if you hear movement, add more fill.
- Layer 5 — Close and Label: Seal all seams with at least 2 rounds of packing tape (H-pattern). Label "FRAGILE" and "THIS SIDE UP" on all 4 sides.
